| My name is Benjamin Andrews Oliver. I was named after Obi-Wan "Old Ben" Kenobi from the first STAR WARS movie in 1977. Naturally, I grew up with an obsession for all-things-star wars....thirty years later, Im still obsessed with aliens and space. In high school, I spent most of my time doodling on notebooks in the back of class. In Art College, I spent most of my time getting high and trying to play in loud rock bands. Post-college drop-out years......mainly spent trying to work for a living. I eventually landed in the construction field as a painter and refined my skills to specialize in paint restoration. Working in the field with a brush and paint bucket in my hand was a constant reminder that I could be doing BIGGER things with this brush. Every few years or so, the visual artist Ben Oliver would come to the surface and bang out a few pieces. The years 1994-2004 were all acrylic paint on canvas. In the beginning of 2011, I decided to take it seriously again. In 2011, ive been painting acrylic on wood panels, and "other" surfaces. Check this site for updates. Im always working on new projects and usually have a few going at the same time. |
